Drowning victim identified

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday identified the drowning victim found in Rockford Bay on Sunday as Daniel J. Schroder, 55, of the Rockford Bay area.

"Based on the investigation it appears alcohol may have been a factor and there is no indication of foul play," a press release said. "The male was not wearing a life jacket the time of the incident."

Patrol and marine deputies responded to Rockford Bay for an unoccupied boat which had floated up to a dock about 7:30 a.m. Sunday. A dock employee of a nearby marina said they found a male submerged in the water next to a dock.

An investigation continues.
