Brick by brick

The deadline to honor military personnel one brick at a time through the city of Hayden’s PFC Robert J. Gordon Veterans Memorial Plaza is Oct. 15. 

Named after a 19-year-old Hayden resident killed in Vietnam, the PFC Robert J. Gordon Veterans Memorial Plaza honors American men and women that have served in the armed forces. The monument stands in front of Hayden City Hall. 

The City of Hayden Commemorative Brick Program allows the public to purchase naming rights to a brick paver in the memorial plaza for $100. To date, the city has installed 252 commemorative bricks. 

Individuals who are or have served the U.S. Armed Forces honorably are qualified for a paver. Qualifying documentation of honorable service for military personnel discharged after 1940 is required. Organized military groups are exempt from this requirement. 

Installations occur twice a year on Memorial and Veterans Day. Residency in Hayden is not required.
