GOVERNMENT: County’s clouded future

| September 10, 2021 1:00 AM

Indeed, Peggy, I missed the irony, but not the non sequitur.

Allow me to explain my “idiotic” thinking, since you missed it the first time. (See the irony?)

Stealing political signs is a form of silencing political speech. Silencing political speech is one of the hallmarks of tyrants. Another hallmark of tyrants is to disenfranchise voters.

Bill Brooks has publicly stated that he wants a five-member, part-time board of county commissioners, only two of which would be voted on by everyone in the county; the majority would be gerrymandered into districts and protected from a countywide vote to boot them out.

Then, he would remove our right to vote for the heads of other county offices and replace them with unelected technocrats with no accountability to the taxpayers. Technocracies are never a good thing. Anyone remember Orwell’s 1984?

This plan to restructure our county government was soundly defeated at the polls for a second time, a few short years ago, but now Bill wants to bring it back again and cram it down our throats.

Bill refused to pass a resolution making Kootenai County a Second Amendment sanctuary. This, and many other decisions he has made since being in office, shows how out of touch Bill is with his constituents.

Bill used the Republican Party to get elected, then dumped it.

Bill exhibits tyrannical and abusive behavior in public meetings, thus leading me to believe that anyone who supports his political career supports a tyrant.

See how logic works, Peggy?
