FAIR: What, no critters?

| September 10, 2021 1:00 AM

Going to the fair was always a treat, until this year. We went on Tuesday, Senior Day, and lo and behold, NO ANIMALS. No sheep, goats or cattle to speak of; four draft horses, nine rabbits, very few chickens. They were taken out on Monday evening and not replaced until Wednesday morning. Everyone who went on Tuesday saw zippity do da.

The manager of the fair overrode the others in the meeting, and didn’t bring the animals back on Tuesday. So all the seniors, who remember the fairs from years past and the children who were seeing the fair for the first or second time, saw no animals, only commercial vendors.

And to think the Coeur d’Alene Press had such a nice article about the new manager, they just forgot to tell everyone she didn’t really know as much about the fair as they thought. Who goes to the fair to buy a dress or vacuum cleaner?
