Uhrig seeks Post Falls School Board seat

| September 9, 2021 1:07 AM

Neil Uhrig is running for Post Falls School Board Trustee Zone 1, held by Dave Paul.

Uhrig’s top priority will be addressing growth within the district.

“The most pressing issue the district is facing is the rapid population growth of Post Falls, which will crowd our classrooms,” he said.

Since moving to Post Falls with his family a decade ago, Uhrig said he has seen the ripple effect of growth in the community. As a father of two children in the Post Falls School District, he hopes to lessen the impacts of growth on education.

“As a member of the school board, I will advocate to slow down growth so we can maintain our high-quality school system,” Uhrig said. “We must have strong leaders on the school board to guide us through this growth crisis. I hope you will vote for me to be that leader.”

Uhrig is a detective sergeant for the Post Falls Police Department specializing in child abuse investigations.

Uhrig previously spent five years working as a school resource officer at Post Falls High School, and still oversees the program.

During his 15 years in law enforcement, Uhrig has been honored as American Legion Police Officer of the Year, a Top Digital Forensic Examiner by the U.S. Secret Service and received the Idaho SRO Excellence in Service Award.

Outside of the office, Uhrig serves as secretary for the Rathdrum Masonic Lodge and president of the Post Falls Fraternal Order of Police. He has also volunteered as a Cub Scout leader and board member of the Kootenai County Substance Abuse Council.
