WALLA WALLA, Wash. — It’s beginning to have a familiar feeling for the North Idaho College men’s soccer team.

While the result stayed the same, it’s the outcome that was a little new this time around.

Will Kokernak scored on an an assist from Griffin Teuber in the 8th minute for NIC (5-0), which beat Walla Walla 1-0 in the Northwest Athletic Conference opener for both programs on Wednesday.

It was NIC’s first win at Walla Walla since 2016.

“Defensively, our back four guys and Stuart (Heringer) did a good job of limiting their chances to crosses,” NIC coach Ken Thompson said. “Stuart did a good job of keeping them wide and limiting their number of dangerous chances.”

NIC has outscored its opponents 18-0 thus far this season.

Heringer had two saves for NIC, which hosts Blue Mountain of Pendleton, Ore., on Saturday.
