OPINIONS: Welcome all kinds
I found Pamela Niles’ response to Allen Fulleton’s letter “Jab at Jabs” astounding. He is apparently entitled to opine on his opinion but that opinion is to be presented in accordance with “journalistic standards” and “fact checked.”
Is Ms. Niles suggesting in her Sept. 1 letter to the editor that she and the Coeur d’Alene Press become the arbiter of truth? Are all opinions to be filtered through the prism of journalistic standards?
In her opinion, she simply copied the disclaimer from the OpenVAERS website. Then, she parroted that the vaccine is both safe and effective. I find this argument to be willfully lazy and of “heroic ignorance,” to quote Douglas Murray.
Her conclusion that The Press has a duty to scrutinize and refrain from publishing lies is comical considering her rather loose relationship with the truth. OpenVaers is a site of data collection and should be considered for analysis and for free and open discussion. It is not an anti-vaccine site as Ms. Niles stated. Anyone can go to this open-source site, look at the number of people harmed by the vaccine, and have an open discussion about why there are so many adverse reactions caused by the jab.
Given her standards for truthfulness, I believe her opinion may have missed the mark and would not have been worthy of publication. Heroic ignorance indeed!
