SCHOOLS: The bullies win

| September 5, 2021 1:00 AM

Imagine someone decides to commit suicide, and takes his child with him. Or maybe a person decides that the rules of the road no longer matter while the children are in the car. You’re thinking, that’s horrific!

That is the decision the anti-mask parents are making, except it isn’t just their children in harm’s way, it is their neighbors’ children, the school staff or the teachers.

Since the virus is contagious and mutates, the freedom they describe lacks responsibility. People seem to have forgotten what it means to live in society. They have forgotten about the common good.

I hear parents talk about how their children can’t breathe, or are too hot or hate their masks. Well, as everyone knows, the children respond the way their parents teach them to behave. If a parent’s kid is whining, then the parent is whining in front of him.

Thanks to all of this hoopla over COVID, the Coeur d’Alene School Board posted its reopening policy. It is in fact no policy at all. Wear a mask or don’t. Get vaccinated or don’t. If you get COVID you don’t have to tell us. We don’t care if you infect others. Keep your illness a secret.

I’m sure the Board Members are thinking, “At least those anti-everything parents won’t scream at us anymore.” You found out Thursday night, after you capitulated, that they are still screaming at you. You have endangered the entire community instead of standing up to the bullies. How sad.
