| September 5, 2021 1:00 AM

Frank Sylvester Hubof passed away unexpectedly July 8, 2021, at the age of 76. He was born in Hettinger, N.D., on March 14, 1945.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen McIntire of Elk, Wash.; his daughter Lisa and husband Josh Willhite of Nampa, Idaho, his oldest son Rob and wife Lisa Hubof of Hayden, Idaho, and his youngest son Nick and wife Amanda Hubof of Spokane, Wash.; four grandchildren, Mya Hubof, Elsa Hubof, Kamden Hubof and Nicksen Hubof. Also survived by his three sisters, Jo Ann Hubof of Hayden, Idaho, Diane Wimmer of Post Falls, Idaho and Vicki Reel of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Melvina Hubof of Dalton Gardens, Idaho.

He joined the US Army in 1967, serving 1 tour in Vietnam. A few years later, he returned to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He joined a softball league as a pitcher for many years and then went on to coach women’s softball for over 20 years. Another favorite pastime was bowling; he became one of the elite bowlers in the area. In 1973 he established Hubof’s TV in Post Falls, Idaho, and worked as a TV repairman until 2013.

He always enjoyed time with his family, whether it was floating the CDA river and camping, playing cards or fishing. He went where the fish were, no matter if it was a beautiful, peaceful lake, a raging ocean with swales higher than the boat or camping on the access road of a low-traffic train track to fish the nearby crick. He was a quick-witted jokester and will be remembered for his numerous pranks, whether you participated or were at the receiving end. He had a passion for his garden and specialized in growing the best tomatoes and peas, which he shared with all. ‘Raiding’ other family members' pea patches, late at night, was always a fun and exciting time to spend with him as a youngster.

A celebration of his life will be held in October.
