The Kootenai County Elections Office is looking for poll workers to help facilitate accurate voting on Nov. 2.

Poll workers are responsible for helping people register, vote, check identification, hand out ballots and monitor the ballot box. Workers also aid in keeping track of who has voted and the safe transport of ballots to the Elections Office.

“We are always looking for poll workers,” Chief Deputy Clerk Jennifer Locke said. “We’re sitting pretty good with judges. But coming next year, we can always use more.”

Each election typically uses at least 300 poll workers, Locke said.

Poll workers earn $150 for attending one to two training sessions and working the full Election Day.

All poll workers must be at least 16 years old and be able to work at least a 14-hour day.

Interested citizens can apply for a poll worker position at www.kcgov.us/324/Poll-Workers.
