Firefighters on duty for return of students

The Coeur d'Alene Fire Department will be staging around elementary schools in Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday morning, the first day of school.

"Our goal is to provide added awareness and alert motorists that children are returning to school," said a press release.

Motorists are being asked to use caution in neighborhoods and anticipate children walking to and from schools each day.

The fire department emergency vehicles will have emergency lights turned on to warn drivers in the area.

Fire department personnel will also be helping children cross busy streets.

Schools they will be at include Borah, Bryan, Fernan, Ramsey, Skyway, Sorensen and Winton.
