Monday print suspension extended

COEUR d’ALENE — Because of a workforce shortage, The Press will continue suspension of the newspaper print publication on Mondays until conditions improve, Publisher Clint Schroeder said.

“Our goal has been to contract enough carriers to ensure excellent home delivery seven days a week,” Schroeder said. “We haven’t reached that level yet, and resuming Monday print publication too early would put the other days’ delivery at risk.”

Schroeder said a digital edition of the Monday paper will still be published, accessible to all Press print and digital subscribers.

Like many employers in the region, The Press is short-handed in several departments. Few have the impact, though, of newspaper carriers, who are independent contractors and not Press employees.

“If you don’t know how important they are, you realize it pretty quickly when your newspaper isn’t there,” Schroeder said.

To access the digital version of the Press on Mondays, go to cdapress.com and click on the 'eEdition' button at the top of the page.

If you have trouble opening the digital edition, call Press Circulation at 208-664-0220.

You’re also invited to call Press Circulation if you’d like information on possibly becoming a newspaper carrier.
