Man dies in U.S. 95 crash

An Arizona man was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Hayden on Thursday.

According to the Idaho State Police, Daniel L. Schifle, 62, Buckeye, Ariz., was southbound on U.S. 95 in a 2016 Kia Soul just before 11 a.m. when he hit a Ford F350 driven by Robert B. Jones, 54, of Rathdrum, at Miles Avenue.

Schifle died at the scene, ISP said. Jones was transported by ambulance to Kootenai Health.

ISP said Schifle was not wearing a seat belt, while Jones was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The roadway was blocked for about an hour and a half.
