St. Vincent's postpones 75th anniversary party

St. Vincent de Paul announced Monday it is postponing its 75th anniversary celebration Sept. 9 at The Coeur d'Alene Resort due to concerns about the rise in COVID-19 cases.

About 400 were expected to attend the sold-out event.

"As an organization principled on care for others, postponing the event until COVID conditions improve is a prudent decision to make," said Larry Riley, St. Vincent's executive director.

He said the mission of St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho has always been to care for others while helping keep people safe.

While disappointed to delay the anniversary party, Riley said he sees, "A community coming together for a greater cause — a fragile health care system and compassion for others. A sense of community. Watching out for each other."
