This run's for you... and you, too

| September 1, 2021 1:00 AM

This one’s for you — all you people who aren’t really wild about running and certainly don’t want to run in a race.

It’s “The Race for the Rest of Us!”

Sponsored by the Sunrise Rotary Club of Coeur d'Alene, it’s not a 5K or a 10K and don't even mention the word marathon. It’s .5K. That’s right, .5K. In case you were wondering, that’s 546.8 yards. Or .31 miles. Or 1,640 feet. Or 19,685 inches.

And yes, you can do it!

Here’s some question and answers from race organizers:

Do you need to train? Nope.

Do you need to think about it? Nope.

Do you need to worry about your nagging hamstring injury? Nope.

If that still sounds too far to run, know that race organizers are going all out to get you to the finish line.

“Don’t worry, we’ll have an aid stations set up halfway through in case you need water and doughnuts,” they said.

While everyone is welcome, the Rotary Club really wants to see hundreds of nonrunners out there.

The course is described as “500 meters of grueling terrain over a pancake-flat paved trail.”

The race, if you call it that, is at 10 a.m. at McEuen Park. For $25, you get a “University of Lake Coeur d’Alene T-shirt and a window sticker.

The race ends at 10:15.

Proceeds go to local and international charitable causes as selected by the Board of Director of the Coeur d’Alene Sunrise Rotary Club.
