PREP FOOTBALL: Grangeville clips St. Maries for state 2A bid

ST. MARIES — Trey Gibson scored on a 2-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 14-14 for St. Maries, but a touchdown run by Jared Lindsley in the final minute sent the Grangeville Bulldogs over the St. Maries Lumberjacks 21-14 in a Central Idaho League game at St. Maries High on Friday.

Grangeville (3-5, 2-0 CIL) advances to the state 2A playoffs and will play in the quarterfinals next weekend.

St. Maries finishes 1-5, 1-1.

HARRISON FLATS — Brady McGann caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Charlie Orford in the third quarter for the Warriors, who fell to the Wampus Cats in the season and North Star League finale for both programs.

“We played tough, but had a couple of snaps that killed the first couple of series,” first-year Kootenai coach Jake Pfeiffer said. “We had some good plays and good runs. But I was just proud of how they finished the season and made it all the way through.”

Sam Barnett ran for two touchdowns and returned an interception for a score for Clark Fork (6-2, 2-2).

Kootenai, which did not field a team in 2019 and played only three games in 2020, finished 0-8, 0-4.
