COEUR d’ALENE — Sophomore Cohle Feliciano saved his best for last on Friday.

And as it happens, it was just what the Cardinals needed as well.

Feliciano pinned Montana State-Northern’s Rylan Moldenhauder in 3 minutes, 30 seconds in the bout at 285-pounds, sending the Cardinals to a 21-20 win over the Lights at Christianson Gymnasium in the season opener for both programs.

“It was just a competitive match,” NIC coach Mike Sebaaly said. “Cohle just went out and did his job.”

Montana State-Northern is ranked 18th in the NAIA preseason poll.

“We’re wrestling guys that are a little more experienced, and put a lot of guys out there that were wrestling their first college match,” Sebaaly said. “We just need to continue getting better and progress toward the end of the year.”

NIC returns to action on Nov. 7 at Northern Colorado, facing NJCAA Northwest Kansas Tech, NAIA Doane and Division I Northern Colorado and Utah Valley in Greeley, Colo.
