SEPT. 24: Big clue for voters

| October 27, 2021 1:00 AM

The abhorrent, heart-breaking behavior of the protesters who disrupted the Coeur d’Alene School Board meeting and then stormed the district office on Sept. 24 is not representative of our long-standing Coeur d’Alene community. What’s worse, two Coeur d’Alene School Board candidates, Glen Campbell and Allie Anderton, were part of that crowd, with bullhorns in hand, riling the crowd while district administration sheltered fearfully in place.

As an engaged citizen of Coeur d’Alene for the past 20-plus years, the community I know and love is respectful, rational and collaborative. Those school board candidates and protesters were uncivil, disrespectful, demanding and fear-inducing. We do not need or want school board trustees who incite fear with uncivility. We want school board trustees who work in the name of unity and respect and operate ALWAYS out of concern for the safety of all school district staff and students.

The very presence of Glen Campbell and Allie Anderton at the protest indicates they are not at all interested in protecting anyone other than their ideologies, and potentially at great cost. Enough is enough. It’s time that our reasonable, rational and thoughtful community standup against these fearmongers. It’s a NO vote for Glen Campbell and Allie Anderton and a YES vote for Rebecca Smith and Lisa May.
