| October 26, 2021 1:00 AM

Dwain Harvey White, 78, known to many as Dee, passed away peacefully at home, with family by his side, on Oct. 8, 2021, from liver cancer.

Dee was born in San Fernando, Calif., to Harvey and Hazel (Olds) White on Dec. 3, 1942. The family moved to Emmett, Idaho, in 1947 where he, and his older sister, Marylee, grew up and he graduated from high school in 1961. Dee first attended Boise Junior College, then University of Idaho. He later attended Eastern Washington University, where he graduated with a business law and accounting degree. He last worked for AAA, retiring as CFO after 20 years of service.

He met Elaine Matthiesen while they were both attending University of Idaho, and they wed on Sept. 6, 1964, in Bismarck, N.D. They moved to Spokane, Wash., in 1968, and then to Post Falls, Idaho, in 1988.

During their great life together, they raised and showed schnauzers, went on 23 cruises, many RV trips, and enjoyed time spent with friends. They belonged to the Pleasant View Community Association and spent countless hours restoring the Pleasant View School. Dee’s passion for riding his motorcycles, and most recently his Can-Am Spyder, the last several years, on extended rides, filled many weekends and RV trips.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Elaine, and brother-in-law Rodney Shields.

He is survived by his sister, Marylee Shields, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Oct. 28, at Yates Funeral Home, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Inurnment will be held at the Pleasant View Cemetery at noon.

Charitable donations can be made in his name to the Pleasant View Community Association, P.O. Box 3145, Post Falls, ID 83877.
