Booster shots available to qualified people

COVID-19 booster shots are available locally.

Panhandle Health District offers COVID-19 vaccine booster shots for the following Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine recipients who completed their initial series at least 6 months ago and are:

  • 65 years and older
  • Age 18+ who live in long-term care settings
  • Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions
  • Age 18+ who work in high-risk settings
  • Age 18+ who live in high-risk settings

Northwest Specialty Hospital is offering Pfizer and Moderna booster shots for immune-compromised individuals only.

Rite-Aid and Walgreens are offering booster shots to qualified individuals.

On Wednesday, the US Food and Drug Administration authorized booster doses made by Moderna and Johnson & Johnson. The agency said any of the three vaccines — Pfizer, Moderna and J&J — can be mixed and matched as boosters.

The Centers for Prevention and Disease Control’s vaccine advisory committee is meeting today to discuss booster doses for Moderna. Once approved, PHD said it will offer Moderna boosters as well to the populations the CDC recommends.
