PREP VOLLEYBALL: Timberlake to face Bonners Ferry tonight for berth to state

KELLOGG — Emma Torr had 10 kills, Sami Wilfong 31 assists for Timberlake, which fell to the Kellogg Wildcats 25-12, 18-25, 25-22, 18-25, 15-9 in the 3A District 1 championship match at Andrews Gymnasium on Wednesday.

Jaycie Pratt had 11 digs and seven aces, Ashliana Thomas nine digs and nine kills for Timberlake (11-7), which faces Bonners Ferry in the second-place match tonight, with the winner also advancing to state.

Kellogg (13-2), which has won three straight district titles, advances to state next week at either Coeur d'Alene High or Lake City High.

BONNERS FERRY — The Panthers, seeded fifth in the 3A District 1 tournament, had their season come to a close by the third-seeded Badgers 25-19, 25-5, 25-12 at Bonners Ferry High.

Kalei Merrifield had seven assists, Taylor Peterson six kills, two assists and two digs, Raeana Kendra five kills for Coeur d'Alene Charter, which finishes 4-13.

"Bonners Ferry played another smart and tactical game for the win," Coeur d'Alene Charter coach Christel Moore-Winkle said. "Our Lady Panthers have had a season of development and growth. We ended the season a lot stronger than we began."

Bonners Ferry (9-7) travels to Timberlake for the district second-place match tonight at 6.

OROFINO — Shelby Martin had 17 kills and seven aces for the Lumberjacks in a 25-22, 25-21, 16-25, 17-25, 15-9 loss to the Bulldogs in the 2A District 1-2 tournament at Orofino High.

Lily Daniel had 35 assists, Berkli McGreal 10 digs for St. Maries, which finishes 3-8.

Grangeville advanced to face top seed Orofino in a best-of-3 championship match.
