SUBMARINE: Questions surface
Re: Back in the USS Idaho, Coeur d’Alene Press, Friday Oct. 8
This article is confusing. Does it mean the USS IDAHO is not going in the yard for overhaul and a new boat is being commissioned bearing the state of IDAHO’s name?
Just last month, I was reading an article in the “Navy Times” about the lengthy delay USS IDAHO has encountered awaiting overhaul. Is this group part of a new Blue and Gold Crew from the OLD USS IDAHO. Or a NEW PRECOMMISSIONING CREW for the new IDAHO. SNN-799. From the comments, I gather they are Crew of the OLD USS IDAHO. Hopefully, they won’t be too old for service when the new boat gets out of the Yard.
I even wrote both of our state senators about the issue. Do it or decommission the boat. It has been a dead issue for years.
Don’t tell me that the United States sold or probably gifted a boat long, long overdue overhaul to the Australian Navy for use. I still have some friends down there.
