| October 20, 2021 1:15 AM

SPIRIT LAKE — Some players save their best for last.

In the case of Timberlake senior Ashliana Thomas, Tuesday’s 3A District 1 tournament match was just her night.

Thomas had 15 kills, 14 digs, four aces and one block, only committing three hitting errors on the night as the second-seeded Tigers beat the third-seeded Bonners Ferry Badgers 25-22, 25-23, 19-25, 25-22 to advance to the championship match tonight in Kellogg.

“She’s just a consistent player,” Timberlake coach Michelle Garwood said. “She’s hard working, not flashy, but really consistent. And she just makes it look easy when it’s not. She’s just where she needed to be the entire time.”

Timberlake (11-6) travels to Kellogg (12-2) for the championship match tonight. Kellogg defeated Coeur d’Alene Charter 25-15, 25-9, 25-10 in the other semifinal match.

Jaycie Pratt had nine digs, 11 kills and served an ace to close out the match, Sami Wilfong had 39 assists, Mckennah Kronenberg had seven digs, six kills, three blocks and two aces and Emma Patrick had eight digs for Timberlake.

Bonners Ferry (8-7) hosts Coeur d’Alene Charter (4-12) in a loser-out match tonight at 6.

“Bonners did a nice job the entire night and played well,” Garwood said. “We had a rough third set, but they were forcing us into some errors. Luckily, we came back and were able to hang on, but Bonners did a good job of keeping the pressure on. It was a good match for both teams.”
