Gary E. Hayenga, Sr., 79

Born January 19, 1942, Gary passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 16, 2021 in West Virginia while on vacation.

Gary was an avid hunter and fisherman, but his greatest hobby was hydroplaning. He raced in various locations throughout the country from the '60s through the '90s. Gary married Mildred Milleman on February 20, 1975. Gary and Mildred lived in Chelan, Wash. and had a successful glass business before retiring and moving to Entiat, Wash. and building their home, where they lived until they passed away. They also had a home in Florence, Ariz., where they spent their winters. Mildred passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2021.

Gary is survived by four children — Michele Hayenga (Nick Schmidt) of Everett, Wash., Gary Hayenga Jr. (Kathy) of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Tracy Brayton of Seminole, Flo., and Richard Hayenga, of Mukilteo, Wash. He is also survived by Mildred’s two children, son Mike Milleman of Burlington, Wash. and daughter Phyllis Mobley of Ogden, Utah. Gary is also survived by his sisters, Gail Walton (Cliff) of Otis Orchards, Wash. and Claire Price (Les) of Rathdrum, Idaho and brother Greg Hayenga (Marilyn) of Lake Stevens, Wash., as well as many cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Isabelle Hayenga.

A celebration of life for both Gary and Mildred will be held from 1-4 p.m. on October 23, 2021 at the Hayden Eagles at 1520 W Wyoming Avenue, Hayden, Idaho.
