GROWTH: Two must-reads
Regarding Teresa Roth’s housing in Hayden column, thank you for a very well thought out and written critique on the comprehensive plan for housing in Hayden. The same points can probably be made for the other cities in this county and in other small towns all over Idaho and Eastern Washington. The “planners” don’t seem to include livability and sustainability when these ‘pie in the sky’ plans are made, but they seem to think big city density is what is needed here.
On a similar note, the article “Wiped off the Map” (Sunday, Oct. 3) is a good example of the results of government planners working on a comprehensive plan for years while the cities allow the building of homes on property ‘maybe’ needed for future infrastructure. Twenty years after approving the building of homes, they are now saying, “Oh gee, you probably won’t be able to sell your home for value when you want to because this new plan is now showing up on a title search and it will be years before we get around to taking your property.”
