Coeur d'Alene city employee unions and associations have unanimously declared their support for mayoral candidate Jim Hammond, according to a press release Wednesday.

The Coeur d’Alene Police Officers Association, Firefighters Local 710, and the Lake City Employees Association are backing Hammond, who has served as Coeur d'Alene's city administrator, as a state senator and as mayor of Post Falls.

"I am humbled by the support of Coeur d'Alene's finest. I intend to lead with great respect for their work efforts. Together we will explore opportunities for citizens and face any challenges our great city may endure,” Hammond said.

Each organization spoke of Hammond’s experience, knowledge, and strong leadership skills as the reasons they support him as the next leader of Coeur d'Alene.
