Op-Ed: Columnist should admit he's wrong about Banducci

I am compelled to acknowledge Mr. Ginorio’s literary prowess. There is no question he is a skilled wordsmith with a plethora of choices for his talented crafting.

From an artistic point of view, I would even have to say that I have some level of admiration for his talent. His context and motive, however, leave much to be desired, and should be questioned.

Albeit I agree with much of his prescribed philosophies on leadership from his recent column "North Idaho College: Cultural battleground, Part 2," his emphatic and continued support for the new NIC Board Chair, Banducci, not to mention other endorsements for traditionally non-political positions, should not be lost on this litterateur.

If he sincerely feels compelled to provide advice to the “reformist majority” for whom he has demonstrated strong support, that it is their responsibility to “lead more than it is to win,” then can he genuinely believe they were ever the right candidates for the job in the first place, or was he simply endorsing the “battle for the soul of NIC” for the sake of a battle itself?

If one is not initially motivated by the aforementioned philosophy within their elected or appointed position, then they have no business being there in the first place. It is difficult to not conclude that Mr. Ginorio prefers the sound of his own voice and personal convictions far more than he truly cares for any subscribed common good, regardless of the assumed populous sentiment.

The medium he has been afforded with The Press is power, and with that power comes the proverbial responsibility factor, to which respect is earned from the unequivocal admission that you were wrong when you were, in fact, wrong about something or someone.
