COEUR d’ALENE — Several free Thanksgiving dinners are scheduled Thursday.

Let’s start with one set for 2 p.m. at Hayden Lake Seventh-day Adventist Church, 12940 N. Government Way.

“Those who have nowhere to go on Thanksgiving day, please come,” said a flyer.

To register, contact Brian, 208-640-6267.

The Gateway Cafe in Plummer, 126 10th St., will be offering free Thanksgiving meals starting at 11 a.m. To-go meals will be available. Donations will benefit the local food bank.

Info: 208-686-1314

Another is scheduled noon to 4 p.m. at 401 N. Second St. in Coeur d’Alene hosted by The Altar Church food bank and Cherished Ones Ministries.

It will offer turkey, potatoes, vegetables and desserts. Visitors can dine in or take a dinner to go. Delivery is available.

About 375 people attended last year.

Organizer Stephanie Roberts said they're putting on the event for the second time “to help people out that need it” and to “share the love of Christ.”

“A lot of people just need to know that someone cares and loves them,” she said.

About 50 volunteers will prepare, serve and clean up. There will be music and good conversation.

For delivery or carryout, call or text, 208-771-4037.

The Post Falls American Legion Post 143, 1138 E. Poleline Ave., held a free Thanksgiving dinner Saturday that attracted about 275 people.
