Turkeys run on Thanksgiving

| November 22, 2021 1:00 AM

Two local turkey trots are scheduled on Thanksgiving to raise money to help others.

The 44th annual Turkey Trot is set for 8 to 11 a.m. at The Snake Pit in Enaville, 1480 Coeur d’Alene River Road.

There will be free hot chocolate and coffee. There will also be biscuits and gravy and beverages for sale.

The 5-mile fun run starts whenever runners and walkers decide to head out on the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes. Feel free to turn around early.

“If you are not in the mood to run then come, donate to the food bank, sit by the fire and sip some hot chocolate,” said a press release.

There is no registration fee but those attending are asked to bring donations of cash and food for the Shoshone Food Bank.

The ninth annual Turkey Trot is set for 9 a.m. at Riverstone in Coeur d’Alene.

There is a 1-miler, 5K and 10K. No timing or awards will be given, but shirts are available for an additional charge and hot cider and cookies will be at the finish line.

Proceeds will go to “Your Friend, Pamela Faye, Inc.” The funds will provide assistance to cancer patients living in or receiving treatment in North Idaho.

The 1 mile is $10. The 5K is $25 and the 10K is $27. Registration ends Tuesday
