Coffee and cookies for a cause

| November 20, 2021 1:00 AM

Two fundraising events are taking place over the next few weeks at a coffee shop downtown.

Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters is hosting its fourth annual fundraiser benefiting Better Together Animal Alliance (BTAA) at its Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint locations on Nov. 27 and 28.

The event is in memory of Erik Bruhjell, a 22-year-old Sandpoint resident who died in July 2018. Twenty percent of sales over the weekend will be donated to BTAA.

Along with that, the coffee shop has created a special coffee blend called the “Bruhjell Blend,” and 100% of its proceeds will benefit BTAA through Nov. 28. The blend is available online or at any of their three cafes.

For those who may prefer to donate directly to BTAA in Bruhjell’s memory, a link is available on evansbrotherscoffee.com. The goal is to raise $2,500.

A second fundraising event will take place Dec. 4. to benefit Safe Passage, a violence prevention center in Coeur d'Alene.

Bean & Pie is hosting Cookies for a Cause, teaming up with Evans Brothers and Numerica Credit Union.

One dollar from each cookie and drip coffee sold will be donated to Safe Passage, and Numerica Credit Union will be matching cookie and coffee donations.

Pre-ordering will be open from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1 at beanandpie.com.
