Idaho, Idaho State taking part
in food donation drive
COEUR d’ALENE — Ahead of Saturday’s Idaho-Idaho State football game in Pocatello, Vandal fans are encouraged to donate non-perishable foods as part of the third annual “friendly” competition between the two schools.
Items must be dropped off by Friday in the lobby of the Harbor Center. All items donated in Coeur d’Alene will be added to the U of I total, and will go to the food pantry at North Idaho College, which is also open to local U of I students.
Financial donations are also being accepted at idahofoodbank.org/isu-ui-foodfight
Among the foods suggested for donation include fresh fruit and vegetables, whole grains, high quality protiens and low-fat dairy sources.
Each school has “won” once in the first two years of the food drive competition.
WHL announces dates for rescheduled Chiefs games at Victoria
CALGARY, Alberta — The Western Hockey League announced Tuesday the rescheduling of two WHL regular season games between the Spokane Chiefs and Victoria Royals.
The Royals and Chiefs were originally scheduled to play back-to-back games on Friday, Nov. 12 and Saturday, Nov. 13 at Victoria, British Columbia. Due to two positive tests for COVID-19 with players on the active roster of the Spokane Chiefs, these games were postponed. The two postponed games have been rescheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 11 and Wednesday, Jan. 12, both at Victoria.
Earlier this week, the Spokane Chiefs were cleared to resume team activities after all personnel and players on the active roster tested negative for COVID-19.
Spokane is scheduled to return to action Friday at home vs. Seattle.
