BIAS: Press in cahoots with schools
Several years ago I was amazed to find the Coeur d’Alene schools electioneering. I was harassed by a poll worker. Another poll worker contacted County Clerk Cliff Hayes, who promptly called all the schools with polls to take down the posters.
Initially, I received a tag on my letter to the editor chastising me. Subsequently there was a “soft” article in the paper but no apology. The county was furious and said he was frustrated with Coeur d’Alene schools and this was the last straw. Never got my picture in the paper. An errant poll worker seems like small potatoes to school electioneering!
Our kids look up to teachers! Teachers need to teach reading, writing and arithmetic ONLY!
By the way, I voted yes on every levy and bond that came my way until the school put up a young boy on TV saying the levy was only $.80 per thousand. So I started studying the school financials, went to board and union meetings and was appalled to see the “waste” and lack of concern for students.
On one of the earlier levies, the Coeur d’Alene Press cautioned the school board to balance the budget; now they endorse levies. So is the problem newbies to the area? Or, the Coeur d’Alene Press and school leaders pushing what they know is best for our children? Seems like the recent squelch of parents has been going on for a long time!
We as parents and grandparents and community businesses and churches need to help train up our children so our schools teach only academics!
