HILLSDALE: Clarity on the college

| November 7, 2021 1:00 AM

Larry Beiber wrote in The Press that a publication from Hillsdale College called “IMPRIMIS” framed the Jan. 6 insurrection a hoax. Along with 6 million others, I subscribe to this excellent periodical, from Hillsdale College — founded almost 40 years before Idaho became a state.

They take not a penny of federal money, and thus the curriculum has not been corrupted by the various political winds that have blown in their proud 177-year history. They were the first American college to prohibit discrimination based on race, sex or religion, and it’s as difficult to get into these days as the Ivy League.

The publication carries work from Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and Thomas Sowell among others. The article Larry refers to explains that on Jan. 6, the only shot fired was an officer shooting an unarmed female, and another officer sadly died after finishing his shift and telling his family he felt fine, then passing of natural causes the next day.

Not a single gun was found in the entire Capital that day. Protesters included ladies wearing heels and holding hands with their children, and had no plot or plan to take over, and no weapons. Poor choices to trespass were made, but no insurrection.

It’s important to be informed, and happily the IMPRIMIS is free and will bring quality unbiased writing into your home. Since Larry asked, the college is located on the highest point of rural Hillsdale County, Mich., 25 miles from the Ohio border.
