Lefse for sale Saturday

| November 4, 2021 1:00 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — Trinity Lutheran's annual holiday bazaar is set for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Lefse will be offered and is sure to go quickly. About 300 packages of the Norwegian flatbread will be available at $8 each, with four to a package.

Volunteers spent several days in late September and early October making the lefse. Ingredients include potatoes, whipping cream, butter, salt, sugar and flour, all combined to sweet perfection.

Making lefse goes back generations. Beverly Knutson has been doing this for decades.

“My husband was 100 percent Norwegian so I got involved with it,” she told The Press at the lefse-making party. “My kids grew up with it.”

Baked good, crafts, quilts, homemade soups and pies, and Scandinavian favorites will be available.

The sale is at Trinity Lutheran Church, 812 N. Fifth St.
