PUBLICATION: Peddling fear in print

| November 3, 2021 1:00 AM

I received in the mail over Halloween week, by the Kootenaigop.org, a publication called The People’s Pen — A Battle for Coeur d’Alene 2030 A.D.

The cover art says it all. Illustrations of what pseudo-strong men and a mannish woman wearing lipstick should look like.

All three are gripping semi-automatic rifles at the ready to take out anyone who makes fun of their snaky “Don’t Tread on Me” flag. Bulging arm veins, and a fat dog (like a Richard Butler German shepherd after he got fixed by the vet.)

So many symbols dotted throughout. An un-Christian cross displayed on a camo vest. Another flag called “appealing to Heaven.” A depiction of our Idaho state that looks like Dante’s inferno.

I’m not kidding you — I saw Paul Bunyan carrying his ax and a guy wearing a tricorne hat through my iPhone magnifier.

Only self-absorbed hairballs who want your all-consuming attention to fear and $20 cash for 4 more issues of dangerous fantasies would try to pull this off.
