Eugene 'Gene' Daniel Betts, 87
Eugene “Gene” Daniel Betts, 87, of Hayden Lake, Idaho, passed into peace on May 28, 2021, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, after an eight-year battle with cancer.
He was born to Alma and Glen Betts on Feb. 21, 1934, in Southwick, Idaho.
Gene was a loving, hard-working person who always made time to help and support family and friends. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, and spending time telling stories with friends while they played cards.
In 1953, Gene married Rose Wilson in Lewiston, Idaho, and they shared 67 years together.
In 1959, Gene joined the Idaho State Patrol in Twin Falls, Idaho. In 1961, he transferred to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to the port of entry for the Idaho State Patrol. Gene was the commanding officer of the port of entry when he retired in 1986 after serving the Idaho community for 27 years.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Glen Betts, and his sister, Adella, and her husband, Don Christensen.
Gene is survived by his wife, Rose Betts, children Gail Kilian of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Jay and his wife, Amy Betts, of Lakewood, Wash.; and grandchildren Maxwell Kilian of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Emily Betts of Lexington, Ky.
Per Gene's wishes, no services will be held.
