Pac-12 announces early TV football selections for WSU, others

SAN FRANCISCO — Six Washington State football games, five home and one road, have been picked as part of the Pac-12 Conference's 2021 early television selections, the conference announced Thursday.

The Pac-12 television selections cover the first three weeks of the season, along with selected games later in the year.

The Cougars will open their 2021 season Saturday, Sept. 4 hosting Utah State (8 p.m., Pac-12 Network). The following week, Sept. 11, WSU will host Portland State 3 p.m., Pac-12 Network).

The third week of the season sees the Cougars open Pac-12 play by hosting USC on Sept. 18 (12:30 p.m., Fox).

Washington State’s game in Pullman against Arizona, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 19, will kick at 6 p.m. (Pac-12 Network). The final TV selection is for the Apple Cup against Washington, set for Friday, Nov. 26 in Seattle (Fox or FS1, kick time TBA).

Fox, ESPN announce Boise State football's remaining TV selections

The Mountain West announced its FOX Sports national television package, which includes all Boise State football home games, for the 2021 football season Thursday, and ESPN released information on the Broncos’ road nonconference games against UCF and BYU.

With the coinciding announcements and the CBS Sports selections announced Wednesday, each of Boise State’s 12 regular-season games have been selected for national television.

Network designations and kick times have yet to be determined for four games, but dates are now cemented for each.

The Broncos’ season opener at UCF has been moved to Thursday, Sept. 2, and will kick at 4 p.m. PT on ESPN. Kick time and network designation for the Broncos’ game at BYU was not announced, but the date has been set for Saturday, Oct. 9, and the game will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks.

FOX, which now owns the rights to all Boise State football home games, moved two of the Broncos’ contests to Friday. The Broncos’ home opener against UTEP will kick Friday, Sept. 10, at 6:30 p.m., and the matchup with Wyoming is now set for Friday, Nov. 12, at 6 p.m. Both games are set to air on FS1.

Boise State now has four non-Saturday games slated for 2021.

The Broncos’ nonconference tilt against Oklahoma State, set for Saturday, Sept. 18, will kick at 6 p.m. on FS1. The Cowboys are the first team from the Big 12 to play a regular-season game at Albertsons Stadium, and are the first opponent from the league to play the Broncos in Boise since Iowa State visited for the 2002 Humanitarian Bowl.

Kick times and network designation for Nevada (Oct. 2), Air Force (Oct. 16) and New Mexico (Nov. 20) will be established through the course of the regular season, generally within a 12-day window.

Additionally, Fox is slated to broadcast the 2021 Mountain West Championship Game, which is set for Saturday, Dec. 4. Kick time will be announced near the end of the regular season.

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl set for Dec. 21

BOISE — The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, which this year marks the 25th version of Boise's annual bowl game, is set for Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 12:30 p.m. PT. The game will be held at Boise State University’s Albertsons Stadium and televised on ESPN.

The nation’s northern-most bowl game traditionally features a Mountain West vs. Mid-American Conference matchup. The Mountain West has been represented in six of the last seven games, while the MAC has earned a spot in the game nine of the last 11 years.

Tickets for the 2021 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl will go on sale later this summer through famousidahopotatobowl.com or the Albertsons Stadium ticket office.

The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl is one of 17 bowl games owned and operated by ESPN Events, a division of ESPN.

Pickleball app available through Hayden-based Selkirk Sport
