HAYDEN — A man is being held on $150,000 bail after police said he molested his daughter for years.

The 58-year-old Hayden man is charged with lewd conduct with a minor under 16, a felony punishable by up to life in prison.

Deputies with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched Tuesday to a report of sexual abuse.

A 15-year-old girl had contacted the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare to report that her father had molested her.

She said the abuse had occurred almost daily for as long as she could remember.

When interviewed by police, the man allegedly admitted to touching his daughter inappropriately and forcing her to perform sexual acts.

Police arrested him.

The Department of Health and Welfare sheltered the girl.

Judge Timothy Van Valin ordered Wednesday that the man be held on $150,000 bail.

Judge Van Valin also issued a no contact order between the man and his daughter.
