HIGH-A WEST BASEBALL: Indians stay hot, knock off Everett

SPOKANE — Eddy Diaz scored the go-ahead run on an wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning for Spokane, which won its third straight game, beating the Everett AquaSox 3-2 in front of 1,750 at Avista Stadium on Thursday.

Jack Larsen opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the fourth inning for Everett (10-5), which falls out of first place in the league for the first time this season. Willie MacIver hit a solo home run in the seventh inning for Spokane (5-10), his third of the season.

Trent Fennell pitched two innings of scoreless relief, striking out three for Spokane to earn the win. Boby Johnson pitched a scoreless ninth to get his first save of the season.

Brendan McGuigan took the loss in relief for Everett, which left three runners on base.

The teams will play the fourth game of the six-game series tonight at 6:30.
