PREP TENNIS: Viking sophomore Judson pulls upset in girls singles final

COEUR d’ALENE — Coeur d’Alene sophomore Audrey Judson waited for the right moment to notch her first win of the season over Lewiston's Rylei Carper, beating the Bengals junior 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 for the 5A regional championship in girls singles on Saturday at Coeur d’Alene High.

“Audrey played amazing today,” Coeur d’Alene girls coach Laura Taylor said. “She did a good job of staying calm and being patient when she was behind and knew when to go for winners.”

The boys doubles team of Chris Swider and Alexander Nipp also claimed a regional title for Coeur d'Alene, which finished runner-up to Lewiston in both the boys and girls team standings.

The top three in boys singles, boys doubles, girls singles, girls doubles and mixed doubles advance to the state 5A tournament at Timberline High in Boise on Friday and Saturday.

SANDPOINT — Marwan Warnick and his sister, Malika, captured singles titles for Lakeland at the 4A Region 1 tournament at Travers Park.

Sandpoint won in boys doubles and girls doubles and swept the boys and girls regional titles for the first time since 2016, and qualified seven to state.

State is Friday and Saturday in Boise.
