New Chief Deputy Treasurer

Kootenai County welcomes Jill Smith, who will serve as chief deputy treasurer for Kootenai County.

“I am honored to have been chosen as the new chief deputy treasurer and look forward to working with the citizens of Kootenai County and my new team,” she said.

Smith attended the California State University College– San Marcos School of Business Administration prior to serving as the chief deputy treasurer in Snohomish County, Wash. She also spent three years working for King County Treasury. Smith has more than 14 years of public sector and financial experience.

The chief deputy treasurer is responsible for the operations of three governmental departments: treasurer, tax collector and public administrator. They direct the education, development, implementation and monitoring of all activities within the Treasurer’s Office and coordinates with other county departments and outside agencies.
