EWU QB Barriere earns more honors

CLEVELAND — Eastern Washington quarterback Eric Barriere has been named Offensive Player of the Year by the Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletic Directors Association (FCS ADA), as well as the quarterback for their exclusive All-America team.

The EWU star joins former Eagle wide receiver and current L.A. Ram, Cooper Kupp, as representatives from the institution to claim offensive MVP honors. Kupp earned that honor in both 2015 and 2016. Barriere is the 15th Big Sky student-athlete to earn FCS ADA All-America honors in the history of the team.

Barriere, who was named 2021 Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year following the conclusion of the regular season, has now racked up three All-American honors just this week, getting the nod from both Stats Perform and the Associated Press.

A finalist for the Walter Payton Award, the first-team All-Big Sky quarterback threw for 2,439 yards during the league’s spring campaign. He completed 19 touchdowns, and 183 total passes.
