NIC ROUNDUP: Cardinals play to draw with Blue Mountain

MEN'S SOCCER

PENDLETON, Ore. — Greyden Lee, a freshman from Lake City High, scored on an assist from Chris Meza in the 68th minute for North Idaho College, which played to a 1-1 draw with Blue Mountain in Northwest Athletic Conference play on Wednesday.

Tristen McMahan had six saves for NIC (3-3-1, 3-3-1 NWAC), which beat the Community Colleges of Spokane 1-0 on Saturday at Spokane Falls.

NIC is scheduled to host Wenatchee Valley next Wednesday at Eisenwinter Field starting at 4:15 p.m.

Blue Mountain is 4-0-1, 4-0-1.

First half — 1, BMCC, Oswaldo Lopez Aguilar Jr. (Rogelio Ceja), 25:00. Second half — 2, NIC, Greyden Lee (Chris Meza), 68:00.

MOSES LAKE, Wash. — Madison John and Janae Rayborn had seven kills each for the Cardinals in a 25-21, 25-13 sweep of the Vikings in Northwest Athletic Conference play late Tuesday.

Peyton Claus had 17 assists for NIC in the first match.

Later, Rayborn — a freshman from Lake City High — had 10 kills and Claus 22 assists as the Cardinals beat the Vikings 25-27, 25-10, 15-11 in the program’s first matches since April 16 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

NIC (6-2, 6-2 NWAC) is scheduled to host the Community Colleges of Spokane on Tuesday starting at 5 p.m.

MOSES LAKE, Wash. — After falling in the opener, the Cardinals bounced back in the nightcap to earn a Northwest Athletic Conference split with the Vikings.

Aleskya Batoon hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning of the second game — her second in as many innings — for NIC (15-4, 14-2 NWAC), which is scheduled to play at Columbia Basin College of Pasco today at 2 p.m.

CANCELLATION

The Northwest Athletic Conference women's soccer match between North Idaho College and Blue Mountain, scheduled for Wednesday in Pendleton, was canceled.

NIC is scheduled to host Walla Walla on Saturday at Eisenwinter Field starting at noon.
