NEW GROUP: Dismay on display

| May 5, 2021 1:00 AM

Like many longtime Coeur d’Alene residents, I have been growing very concerned about the influx of folks moving in and the many impacts on our quality of life here. Some of these impacts are increased air pollution (cars), traffic jams, raised property taxes and health worries.

The front-page article Sunday about Freedom Fighters really ramped up my dismay about the above concerns. Just what we DON’t need more of in North Idaho: More folks who are vocal and more concerned about enforcing their rights than their responsibilities to others.

Those of us who attended school in the 1950s got vaccinated in school. There was no politicization of health issues, like masks, vax, or caring about protecting each other from illness and potential death.

Politics here has become poisoned by these new residents who feel it’s their right and obligation to impose these divisive views on the rest of us. We were doing fine when all views were expressed and respected.

No longer is this the Coeur d’Alene we lived in. Many of us would be relieved if they all went somewhere else to live and took their Crazytown views with them.
