LEVY: Parental support

| May 5, 2021 1:00 AM

As a parent and product of the Post Falls Schools system, I urge you to vote yes on the upcoming levy for the school district.

These are not new taxes. They are a continuation of the current levy that helps support our school system. Levy dollars made it possible for me to participate in athletic programs and extracurricular activities that helped shape me into the person I am today. I am extremely grateful to the citizens of Post Falls for supporting levies that made those activities possible for me.

My husband and I have a second-grade son who attends Greensferry Elementary School and two other young boys who will soon be a part of the school system. The failure of the levy has us very concerned. My mother is a retired teacher, so I know just how important these levies are in supporting all of the teachers and staff in the district.

I want my boys and all the other children in the district to have the same opportunities that I had. With Idaho ranking 51st in the country on per pupil spending, we need to be putting more money into our school systems not less.

For those of you who don’t have a direct connection to the school district, I ask you to consider this: These kids are our future and it is in everyone’s best interest to invest in their success.

Strong schools help build strong communities.

Join us in voting YES on May 18.
