Doris Marie (Kingsley) Reaves

| May 5, 2021 1:00 AM

Doris Marie (Kingsley) Reaves, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, lost her valiant fight with cancer on Dec. 13, 2020. She will always be remembered for her courage, cheerfulness and kindness. A faithful member of First Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake, Idaho, Doris worked tirelessly to help build up and establish her church community who became like family for her.

Born in St. Maries, Idaho, on July 3, 1939, to Richard and Beatrice Kingsley, she spent most of her adult life in St. Maries and Fernwood. She met her husband at the tender age of 15, while he was working on her father’s dairy farm. She and Edmund were married Aug. 29, 1955, and she bore four children. The couple eventually moved to Blanchard, Idaho, where they were instrumental in building the community center. After living in Blanchard for about 20 years they moved to Rathdrum eight years ago. She loved to shop, sew, can, embroider and take care of her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is dearly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice and Richard Kingsley, and her beloved husband, Edmund N. Reaves, Jr., of 64 years. She is survived by her four children: Cheryl Brooten, Richard (Kristi) Reaves, Judy (Keith) Thomas and Robert (Sandi) Reaves; eight grandchildren: Crystal Collins, Lindsay Thomas, Jason Thomas, Noah Reaves, Nikki Sahlie, Lacey Ethier, Seth Brooten and Jena Reaves; and six great-grandchildren, Brody Reaves, Larkin Gibson, Rykin Sahlie, Jadyn Collins and Vivienne and Archer Ethier.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on May 29, 2021, at First Lutheran Church of Spirit Lake, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Hospice of North Idaho or First Lutheran Church of Spirit Lake.
