Herbert Edmond Crockett II, 77

Herbert Edmond Crockett II, born Sept. 18, 1943, to Gretchen Mae and Herbert Edmond Crockett in Los Angeles, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 19, 2021, at the age of 77. He married Joyce Marie Bates on Aug. 1, 1964.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 56 years; daughter, Tina and spouse, Danny Christmann; son, Herbert III and spouse, Tina Crockett; grandchildren, Connor Crockett, Serenidy Christmann and Kolby Christmann; sister, Sandy; nephews, Rex Hall and Chris Hall; and niece, Mary Tipp; along with many great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was an active member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church for more than 25 years. During that time he served in most of the elected positions of the council. He also took tremendous joy singing in the choir. He was an active member of the local IBEW 73 in Spokane, Wash., for almost 30 years. He played Santa for many years at Christmas parties.

Herbert was a journeyman electrician for more than 55 years, and even when he retired he taught apprentices at the Union for many years after. During lean times of construction, he worked as a prison guard at the Nevada State Correctional facilities. He was the building manager at the Reno Gazette-Journal as well.

When the family moved to Idaho, he drove trucks for a few years before returning to the electrical trade. While living in Dayton, Nev. during the 1970s he served as the volunteer fire chief and firefighter for the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department, where he was one of the first certified EMTs and CPR instructors for the state of Nevada.

Most of all he was an amazing husband, father, brother, grandpa, uncle, son and friend to many. He will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him.
