Sean Michael McCarthy

| March 26, 2021 1:00 AM

Sean Michael McCarthy passed away on Jan. 31, 2021, in Seattle. Sean was born on March 5, 1980, in Durham, N.C., to Jeane Moseley and Dr. Michael McCarthy. Sean had a special bond with cats and was known to speak cat in preschool, much to his teacher, Mrs. Meow Meow’s dismay.

Sean moved to Hayden Lake, Idaho, in the fourth grade and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1998, where he played on the tennis team and also played trumpet in the band. Sean also played with the CHS band as extras in the movie "Dante’s Peak." While in high school, Sean auditioned for his first play and was cast in the lead role in “Bell, Book and Candle” at Lake City Playhouse, and he surprised his friends and family with his great acting skills.

Sean went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of Washington and decided to stay in Seattle after graduation. Sean loved Seattle and all it had to offer. He enjoyed walking through the streets of Seattle to feel its rhythm and really see the people and places that made up the city he cherished.

Sean was a huge fan of baseball (mostly the Mariners!) and the Seahawks. He enjoyed snow skiing, water sports, photography, music and he was an avid collector of cinemas, bobble heads, comic books and baseball cards.

Sean was a special soul and will always be remembered for his quick wit, intelligence and sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew him. Sean’s unique, fun personality left an impression on the lives of everyone he met.

Sean will be forever loved by his parents, Jeane and Charles Moseley and Dr. Michael McCarthy of Spokane; his brother, Nick McCarthy of Arlington, Va., and his sisters, Dr. Erin Moseley of Whitefish, Mont., and Dr. Paige Landers of Dalton Gardens. Sean was adored by his niece and nephew, Chloe and Bridger Landers, and displayed their artwork proudly on his refrigerator!

Sean’s life was cut far too short and his loss will be a continual reminder to enjoy the time we are here and surround ourselves with the people we love. We love you Sean and will meet you somewhere over the rainbow!
