A summer job at Silverwood Theme Park comes with pretty good pay and a fun work environment. It also offers incentives like park discounts, a season pass and even free tickets for family and friends.

There’s an additional bonus offered this year: If you’re hired, your name will be put into a random drawing to win $1,000.

Silverwood will be hosting a job fair on Saturday and again on April 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Come out to the park and interview with the different department managers and supervisors to find the best fit for you,” the park’s website says.

The theme park in Athol, which features more than 70 rides and attractions including its newest ride, Stunt Pilot, is set to open the weekend of May 1 and 2.

It generally hires about 1,500 to fill summer positions in the areas of guest services, food and beverage, games, retail and operations. Pay ranges from about $11.75 to $13.75 an hour, with $15.75 an hour for restaurant cooks. Applicants must be 14 or older.

Some of the jobs include ride operator, beverage steward, games attendant, security officer, baker and water park locker attendant, which calls for assisting guests with access to their lockers and being able to stand for long periods of time.

The train engineer job offers $13.50 an hour, per Silverwood website, and says you will be “Responsible for the operation of the steam powered Engine #7” as it makes its 3.1-mile run through the forests surrounding the park.

“This is a highly specialized position that requires a lot of hands-on training and constant efforts for safety,’ the website states.

Silverwood Theme Park is about 20 miles north of Coeur d’Alene on U.S. 95.
