Girl Scout cookies go on sale Friday

COEUR d'ALENE — Girl Scout cookies go on sale Friday.

"This cookie season we come even more prepared for the challenges that lie ahead and we do it with great enthusiasm," wrote Tammy Pruitt, spokeswoman for Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and North Idaho.

Girl Scouts will be offering eight flavors of the famous cookies at local supermarkets, retail stores, and community centers.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program has taught girls how to run a business via in-person booths, door-to-door activity, and the Digital Cookie platform online.

Pruitt said when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in the middle of the 2020 season and girls were faced with the same challenges as other small businesses, girls in Eastern Washington and North Idaho quickly pivoted their sale methods.

"From running virtual cookie booths on social media to drive-through purchase and pick-up locations to online orders that directly shipped to customers’ doors, our girls embraced their entrepreneurial spirits by staying connected to their communities while having fun participating in the cookie program," she wrote.
